FH History: FH Association (FH) has been working in Bangladesh since the birth of the country in 1971. Previously named Food for the Hungry International, FH’s original work was exactly as its previous name suggests - distributing food to hungry people, the victims of war and famine. Over the years, as Bangladesh has progressed, FH’s work has developed through rehabilitation and giving support, to education and sustainable development. FH’s work has covered many parts of the country. Now FH is an international organization, registered in Geneva with multiple support countries and presences in Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe. Over the years FH has evolved and matured, transitioning from compassionate response, through professional service provision to collaborative community capacity development. The main concept of FH development philosophy is to help people to reach to their God given potential and to increase the morality to the children. FHA believes in the participation of community people in their own development projects. At each project of FHA always emphasis on the sustainable development of the people and ensure that the projects could be lead by the local leaders of the community at the end of the project. Some significant characteristics of FHA's work in Bangladesh are as below: a) Almost 90% of our participants are woman. b) Work in very remote area where less NGO has program. c) Stays longer time ( 8-12 years ) in community and hand over project to a Community based organization when phased out. d) Introduces FH's values with development so that people are morally correct. Through last 49 years, FHA has achieved significant experiences about some important areas of development like educational development for adult and children, facilitation of saving based income generations, Community Based Organization formation and socio-economic development of small ethnic group etc. Key success in Bangladesh: Over the forty-nine years of operations in Bangladesh, FH has come to specialize in particular areas. It has worked in both urban and rural contexts; the majority population as well as with disadvantaged minority groups, particularly those living in sweeper colonies and Rishis; and has emphasized education both formally thorough schools and informally through group animation. Developing human capacity is a common thread running through all of these specializations. In the past few years FH has come to recognize even more the importance, as an international NGO, on concentrating on capacity building rather than service provision. As capacity is built responsibility for services can be put in the hands of the people themselves. Accordingly, in the next five years FH will concentrate on capacity development, and providing emergency relief in times of disaster. Existing service provision will be handed over to local communities to continue. Now mature union-level community based organizations, led and governed by previously extremely poor socially-excluded women and men, operate without FH's help to maintain the momentum of change and development in their locality. With their own resources they employ staff, operate offices, run benevolent funds and contract with other organizations to provide services. FH has moved on to other locations to spawn further such organizations. As a result of FH's pre-schools, home-work clubs and multi-lingual education programs socially excluded children stand amongst the first in their classes in regular schools. Vulnerable communities have their own disaster risk reduction and response plans. Some of the remarkable success of FH in the past are mentioned below: 1. 36 Community based organization have been established and 25 of them have handed over to the community. 2. 750 Savings group have formed and 8,85,084,48.00 taka saved by the savings group members 3. 9800 women became literate. 4. 11750 children have been protected from being dropped out.  Ongoning program: Name of program Program implementation of Mymensingh District.
